The end of a quest...

 

My previous post (Sunday, December 13, 2009) generated a lot of interest. But we never found a crochet version of this stitch.

But when I saw this pattern in 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders, by Margaret Halas, I knew I had to knit it up! So here we have the Cross-Stitch Scarf! I think it is a great choice for this yarn (one of my very favourites).

Mangoes for Breakfast - Afghan

Here is the completed "Mangoes for Breakfast" Afghan. I have completed it for sometime but kept meaning to sew the backing on. I wasn't moving forward on the backing and therefore decided the afghan is now finished! What an easy way to move something from the Unfinished Project pile to the FINISHED pile. This picture was taken on August 29th, 2011 and was given to its intended recipient. She loves the colours!

I am still planning to make/commission a quilt to go under this afghan. I have all the fabric and batting! Someday, someday.

Miracle Baby Blanket

Pattern: Infinite Entrelac 488 by Lucy Neatby

Yarn: Kauni Wool 8/2 Effektgarn, 1 ball

Colourway: W-ES

This blanket is made for a very special mother and child. This woman never expected to conceive. She was thought infertile. Her partner was also thought infertile. And what do you know, a miracle occurred. The baby is doing very well in utero and will be born soon. Blanket done on time (for a change)! Which is another miracle of sorts!

Didn’t do the yarn wraps as in the pattern. Instead I slipped the stitch as if to purl. I think this resulted in a more prominent right & wrong side. But I don’t care - it made the project a lot less finicky.

The yarn is beautiful to look at, but I think it is not ideal for a baby blanket. It is too scratchy and can only be hand washed.

I think zauberball stonewashed would be a much better choice of yarn for this project and colourway.
