Hunter V-neck Sweater

I have already made this sweater in Linen Drape (discontinued, I got my stash from Yarn Xpress) but the result was not roomy enough and too short. Interestingly, the colour above and below are the same! Splash! And, my picture is not turquoise enough either! The stripe is in Linen Drape Sand. In the front the stripe is too close to the v-neck and therefore is not straight. Next time I put a stripe in a v-neck sweater I will know better.

I am currently working this sweater in Cotton Classic by Tahki Royal Blue 3870. The back is just underway.

Just in time for summer

Hunter V-neck Sweater - DONE!

This pattern is my modification of the Rowan Knitting Magazine, Number 29, page 70 sweater designed by Kim Hargraves. It is a loose fitting sweater, finger-tip length, with modified drop sleeves. All finished edges are rolled (body, cuff, and V-neck). It measures 56" across the chest. It required 19 skeins (50 gm) of Cotton Classic by Tahki (Royal Blue 3870) to complete.

This sweater relatively heavy and I want to strengthen the shoulder seams. I will wash it and then stitch reinforcing bands to the wrong side of the shoulder seams.

Now that is a lot of stocking stitch!

Edited to Add (ETA): Brat asked if this was the true colour. I am happy to say this exactly the correct colour - at least on my monitor!

June 4th: The sweater has washed up beautifully and I have decided to forgo the reinforced shoulder seams. So now, it truly is done!

A boy's own jacket
The ShineSport (in River & Sky) arrived on Thursday from Knitpicks. It feels wonderful. I knit up a swatch using 4 mm (instead of 5 mm as indicated for Rowan's Calmer) and the tension matched! The problem is that I think the swatch is too limp for a jacket. So I broke down and purchased the required amount of Calmer in Slosh & Calmer colours! So now what to do with the ShineSport? Since the Knitpicks yarn is fairly inexpensive I don't think it is worth while to return the yarn. I don't like the idea of paying shipping twice and having nothing to show for it! The swatch made me think, this would make a luscious camisole. So I am considering Interweave Knits Lace Nightie (Spring 2007) or a version of Erika Knight's cotton camisole (Classic Knits, p. 83). Still, the colours River and Sky are not what I would have chosen if I had planned to make these projects. Perhaps I will exchange these balls for something else. I hope the Calmer arrives soon - I don't want to cut it too close to the wee one's birthday!

Easy Granny Quilt Afghan
I have tried both a chain stitch and an invisible stitch to join the squares. I really prefer the invisible stitch - it looks more classic. The chain stitch created a more rustic look. Some may have liked it, but it's not for me. I am about 1/4 through piecing it together. So far I am quite happy with the the result. Pictures will follow.

Hunter V-neck Sweater
I am about 2/3 done the back. That's a lot of stocking stitch, for sure. But I don't mind, I find it soothing at the end of the day.
