Question 17 0707

Time for this month's...

I am becoming obsessed with knitting socks (it comes in waves), so my question this month is -

What is your favourite sock pattern
[pair or singleton if you have Single Sock Syndrome (SSS)]
you have ever knit or crocheted?

My favourite is the first (I believe) pair of socks I ever knit. I was frightened because I had heard that turning a heel was very hard. They are called Socks in heavier weight wool (sounded perfect for the beginner) from Gifts and Accessories by Beehive, Book 90. This book was orginally owned by my Great Grandmother. Making things from this book makes me feel closer to my roots. Fortunately these socks are so well loved that they had worn out in a few places. I am currently remaking the feet and enjoying the memories! (See the picture on the right; C - the 3rd pair from the left top corner.)

I do my own patterns and I think my favourite would be my Bavarian style pair. And my Trekking pair.

I'm totally addicted. Till now I have two patterns I loved to knit. Because they went fast and had maximum effect. It is the snowflake sock :

and the dragonfly:

My favorite pattern was the walkthrough to socks in the Yarn Harlot's Knitting Rules. It taught me that I don't need a pattern! I can make any sock I want now.

My favorite socks are really a favorite because of the yarn, Trekking XXL in colorway 100 (oh so pretty). I knit them in a simple lacy rib that I can't remember where it came from. Here's its picture:

I think my favorites are the Fluted Bannister socks(http://www.kelthaven.org/socks/flutedbanister/med-sportwt.html), mostly because of the gorgeous LL Shepherds Sock I used (Watercolor, I think).

I have knit more than 100 pairs of socks and my most favorite pattern is the Monkey socks from Cookie A. Love those monkeys! Ruth in NJ

My favorite so far have been the Monkey socks by Cookie A. I used some Cherry Tree Hill sock yarn in Blueberry Hill. They are posted on my blog--

My favorite are the Knitpicks Moc Croc pair; they fit the best and I used a Trekking yarn that I love. But I've only made five pairs so far... so I've got room to find more favorites!

I'd have to agree with some of the others: I love Cookie A's Monkey sock.

I have only knit a few pairs and would have trouble naming a favorite. So far the most fun have been the plain socks - ribbed cuffs, top down - that I start while walking on the local Walk for Hunger fund raiser. I wasn't sure I could walk and knit at the same time, but it was doable - although the knitting was slower than if I had been sitting still.

I have so many patterns and yarns waiting to see if they will be my new favorite!
